I liked Kung Fu Panda better, because it was funny AND touchy. The characters there were incredibly AWESOME (ESPECIALLY Master Shifu), and graphics are great.

Wall-E, on the other hand, has great animations and graphics as well, yeah, but it's NOT touchy if the robots are the ones getting hurt (they're just robots compared to animals XD) Anyway, I feel more bad for the people in Wall-E than the robots.

So yeah, KUNG FU PANDA FTW!!!

I know this thread is old, but I have to speak for the two awesome movies.

First off, they were both, really great movies. Kung-fu Panda, was awesome. When I watched it, I felt it resonate deep within me. I'm not sure how you can say that Kung-fu Panda feels fake because it definitely feels real to me and especially the character Po. They portray him like a real human being. How do I know? I was able to relate to his character, and it definitely was not a generic one. All of you have to stop slamming either of the movies because they were both worthy of the title, GOOD.

Although the two movies are animated, they are different in their own respects. Kung-fu Panda was more focused on the dynamic development of the character itself and his inner conflicts. Wall-E was more focused on the relationship between two characters. Simply put, Wall-E was more of a romantic journey whereas Kung-fu Panda was more of an 'inner journey'. Do not get me wrong, both of the movies were portrayed beautifully. Wall-E as you can see had a little more technical aspects and artwork involved which made it some really good eye candy. But that's not to say it was necessarily better than KFP. I loved Wall-E too, but I absolutely will not deny KFP and will stand for its genuine story.

I just watched Wall-E today and man, it was awesome. Both of the movies, thumbs up.

I loved both of these movies and am the proud owner of both DVDs.

I will honestly say that I enjoy watching Kunfu Panda more than Wall-E, but only because it has those awesome action battles in it and the movie has great replay value.

However, that doesn't mean I think Kung Fu Panda is the better movie here. Sure, it entertains me - but Wall-E earns my outright respect.

Kungfu Panda played the old low self-esteem hero plot all over again, and in the end he was 'invincible' with his blubby fatness because 'there is no secret ingredient'. The moral was thrown all over the place and it annoyed the heck out of me in the end. Especially considering Po literally can not get hurt, whether he falls out miles from the sky, or gets rammed down in the ground, he will 'comically boing' away and laugh about it. The threat of Po getting hurt was thrown out the window in the last scene and totally ruined the 'seriousness' of the battlescene.

Wall-E doesn't have a 'moral in my face'. It's simply about a robot that's doing its job for 700 years, and he meets another robot that he's very interested in. Along the way he falls in love and manages to accidentally change everybody he meets along the way too. Wall-E opens people's eyes, something which is beautifully portrayed in the movie.

Of course Wall-E has its faults too - I simply hated the real life action actors that were in the movie. They simply did not belong in there. Also, the CG humans just looked way too 'simple' compared to the very detailed world and detailed Wall-E.

Other than that Wall-E is simply better than Kungfu Panda because of their characters (sorry but Kunfu Panda only borrows cliché and very overused characters, heck they completely left out the Furious Five and used them as stock characters), while both Wall-E and Eve change over the course of the movie and they feel real to us.

Wall-E feels real and earns my respect. Kungfu Panda feels fake, and that's why it's funny, but that doesn't make it a better movie. Wall-E will stay the better movie in my eyes.

Of course, I still love them both.

I know this thread is heaps old, but I'd like to make a short comment IMHO. Pixar achieved what Dreamworks did with Kungfu panda all the way with its first animated film ever - that's right, Toystory. That movie had great characters, had some great scenes and was funny. Pixar keeps moving ahead while Dreamworks plays it safe with the same formula. I liked KungFu panda, but these two movies are very, very different (and thus serves two different target audiences).

In terms of what's 'better', well I'd have to say 'Wall-E' because it was more thought provoking and mind stimulating, less predictable, and you can certainly say the first act of the film was unique.

I can say without flinching that Kung Fu Panda was the better film. It had more entertainment value, and, I feel it had more heart. This is not to say that I didn't think Wall-E isn't also good, but I do believe that the shiny PIXAR logo has blinded people to the movie's flaws. If Wall-E was edited down a bit, and all the cg humans were "off camera", I think the story would have been stronger, and the live action integration would have been flawless. That movie.. would have possibly been the clear winner. I don't agree that the story is unique either. It's only as unique as Kung Fu Panda is, and I none of the kids at the theater watching Kung Fu Panda fell asleep, or complained afterward. I don't want to vote for a movie based on technical achievement, I vote on rewatchability..

Difficult to say which of the two is better. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Kung Fu Panda has terrific animation. Animation is all about timing, and its done to perfection in Kung Fu Panda. The fight scenes are incredibly complex from a technical standpoint, and Wall-e is more of a character driven movie. Trying to judge which of the two is a better movie is like trying to compare apples with oranges.

I loved both movies. Please stop putting in stupid comments with box office records to use that as a reason why one movie is better than the other.

@ Matt,

I can't be the only one who thought "electric spark kiss of miraculous amnesia cure" was a bigger and cornier deus ex machina than "There is no secret ingredient." The build to the latter was so much better, and while idealistic, it's not nearly as corny, and I love how the line was dropped in a subplot rather than smashed into the main arc.

Plus, Po > Wall-E as a protagonist. He was cynical - he reflected a real human being, not an idealized romantic figure. After being insulted for so long, keeping his optimism all the while, the scene where he rails against Shifu, who only believed in him at another's behest, unable to provide any answers - where he releases all the pent up frustration and self-doubt? It was incredibly real and resonant.

Plus, a plot that worked with no romance. How refreshing is that? It focused on the relationship of a teacher and student - in this way, it reminds me of a PIXAR classic, Finding Nemo, my favorite animated film.

Wall-E is touching, sweet, and deep, but Kung Fu Panda is the greater film. No heavy-handed morality and idealistic romantic notions - just charm and realness and ambition, handling a cynical world with a bit of good-hearted, optimistic humor.
